Programming

An active camp is a happy camp, and we at Rally program our days to be active. From the moment the car door shuts and the campers walk through check-in and into our camp, we are ready for fun.

Now, we can’t talk about the activities without talking about the people we have leading the activities: the coaches. Most of our memories of summer camp revolve around large groups of campers being led by high school and college kids.  And while we value that experience, we hire a little differently at Rally Camps. We look for professional educators. Coaches and counselors who spend their year working with kids of all ages – whether it’s in the classroom, or on a field as a coach, or at an afterschool program. Working with campers is part of their profession. Oh, and those large, unruly groups of the camps of our youth? We put our coaches with groups of 8-10 campers.

Small groups and professional educators are the building blocks for great activities. We are a sports camp, and throughout the day we rotate our campers through a variety of sports and games. Those that start at the basketball courts working on their three-point shot quickly move to a game of capture the flag, or they might learn how to run routes on a football field, or practice their swing with a home run derby.  Our younger campers might have a ga-ga tournament or work on their throwing skills by knocking the Rally Bear off a tee. We teach skills through games and the games are fun. In the afternoon we transfer those skills to competitions: the fifth grade campers might have a three-on-three basketball tournament while the third grade campers decide which group is the best at kickball. Twice a week our younger campers have the option of Arts and Crafts. We end the day with prizes and popsicles.

Campers make the walk back to the car having made new friends and developed new skills – all while playing a bunch of fun games at camp!
